
We believe that parent involvement is a crucial component in educating children in our school and highly encourage you to become involved.
The meeting was called to order by Jeannette Maxfield at 6:30 pm. Everyone was welcomed.
In Attendance: Lisa Kelley, Christina Richert, Jeannette Maxfield, Patty Blount, Jess Kendall, Dave Sauer, & Sandy Severson
Girl Scout Troop 51330 Book Drive-Elizabeth Blount & Jessica Hentges presented a proposal to the PTA for the Girl Scout Troop to hold a book drive at Forest View & Forest Lake. All of the books will be donated to the MN Literacy Council. Bins will be put at the schools for book collection. The Girl Scouts will monitor the entire program, they requested support of the PTA to hold the book drive. The PTA stated they would be happy to support the Girl Scouts with this book drive. The Girl Scouts will print flyers & hang posters around the schools. The drive will be held for two weeks, May 7th – 18th, 2012.
2012 – 2013 Officer Elections-A flyer will be distributed to the families regarding the open PTA officer positions. The flyer will describe the PTA officer duties. Elections will be held at the May PTA meeting.
Box Tops-The Box Tops for Education need to be mailed in for our credit. The winning classroom at Forest View is Beck/Lorenz & at Forest Lake it is Maxfield.
Report of Officers-Co-Presidents: Jeannette Maxfield & Christina Richert –
The state has signed our by-laws. The taxes have been completed for this year. We received a financial request to support the Festival of Cultures. Lisa Kelley nominated that we provide up to $200 for the support of Festival of Cultures. Christina Richert approved this request. All present voted in favor of providing up to $200 for the Festival of Cultures.
Co-Vice-Presidents: Molly Messingham & Trisha Mesenbring –Molly requested that we find a new coordinator for the fall fundraiser with the Chip Shoppe. Patty Blount kindly volunteered to take over the coordination next year.
Co-Treasurers: Nicolle Wollan & Julie Corcoran– No financial update this month.
Secretary: Lisa Kelley –We reviewed the meeting minutes from March. The meeting minutes have been provided to the school administrative assistants to be posted on the school websites. The March meeting minutes were approved by Jeannette Maxfield and seconded by Sandy Severson. All present voted in favor of the March meeting minutes.
Teacher Liaisons: Sandy Severson & Dave Sauer –Dave provided a flyer with the candy bar sales totals. The candy bar fundraiser was a huge success!
Walk-a-Thon-The Walk-a-Thon will be on May 11th. Flyers will go home to the families on April 27th. The top five students in each school will get lunch with a friend and the school principal. Everyone who raises $30 or more will be put into a drawing to be the principal for the day!
Arts & Academics-The teachers are ready for Arts & Academics! The basket raffle will be held at this event.
Twins Game-Once again a flyer has been sent home for a chance to purchase ticket to a MN Twins game!
Future Problem Solvers-Five students at Forest Lake have qualified to compete in the International Future Problem Solvers competition. Jessica Kendall proposed that we provide $50 to each of the team members to help offset travel costs to the competion. This request was seconded by Sandy Severson. Everyone present voted in favor of support the students going to the International Future Problem Solvers competition.
